The single most useful thing to know about General Luna is that it runs on cash. ATMs are mostly in General Luna and Dapa, they charge roughly ₱250 per withdrawal, and they frequently run out of money on weekends and holidays — exactly when you are most likely to need it. International cards sometimes get declined too.
So bring enough cash to cover most of your trip, and treat the local ATM as a top-up, not your lifeline. If you do need to withdraw, do it early in the week before the machines empty. GCash and Maya are accepted at some General Luna spots only — handy when they work, but never your only plan.
| ATM withdrawal fee | ~₱250 |
| Tourist SIM (with starter load) | ₱100–₱300 |
| Data promo (weekly) | ₱100–₱200 |
| Laundry (per kilo) | ₱60–₱100 |
| Water refill (gallon) | ₱25–₱40 |
Staying connected is easy. Load and SIM stalls along Tourism Road sell tourist SIMs from Globe or Smart and register them for you on the spot — just bring an ID. Pick a data promo that matches the length of your stay, and you can top up load at the same stalls or at most sari-sari stores.
Signal is generally fine in General Luna and around the main strip, but it weakens on quieter parts of the island, so do not count on a strong connection everywhere. Many of these stalls also do GCash cash-in if you need to fund your wallet.
Laundry shops charge per kilo and usually offer same-day wash-dry-fold if you drop your bag off in the morning. Most take GCash as well as cash. It keeps your packing light and is genuinely cheap.
For water, skip the tap — it is not safe to drink — and skip the cost of bottled water too. Bring your own bottle or gallon to a refilling station and pay just a few pesos per refill. You will find laundry shops and water refill stations on the stores page.
